Nice atmosphere, good service, fresh chips, pretty good salsa (a little mild for my taste). Meal was average, but well above average for culinary abyss that is south haven. Both entrees we ordered lacked the seasoning and full flavor we expect from authentic Mexican food but that is likely a concession to local tastes. If we ever go back to south haven we will eat her again as it was better, safer and cleaner than everywhere else we tried in the off season.

We dined in as a part of our stay during the 4th of July weekend. To start, their chips were crunchy and delicious along with their pica de gallo; the pickled carrots were superb and not as spicy as I thought. I ordered the chimichunga steak burrito with cheese and onions inside. I would have liked it with green peppers as well. The tomato sauce they served to pour on top of the burrito was nothing special and tasted pretty bland. Their rice was awful, mushy and tasted like nothing authentic. Reasonable prices and service was a bit slow. I'd eat here again only because it is the only Mexican restaurant in the downtown South Haven area but it's nothing authentic.

My meal was aggressively bland, but I guess for Mexican food in Michigan the food was not too bad. My real issue is that we bought a pitcher of margaritas for the two of us (it was a lazy vacation day on the beach!) and as far as I know there was absolutely no alcohol in it. If there was alcohol, it couldn't have been more than 1-3 ounces in the entire pitcher. We both had over 3 full glasses but felt no effect from the alcohol. My partner is always especially affected by alcohol but actually couldn't feel anything. I asked if I had ordered a virgin pitcher, but the server denied that anything was wrong. If this hadn't happened, I would consider this restaurant 3 stars.

Okay. My wife loves mexican. I'm like meh...actually I'm quite pickier than her. Where to start? They served pickled (typically Italian) carrots n chiles. Best part of the meal. Caprinhinhas, actually, more like a Gimlet. I make them better at home. Queso fundido (or whatever they call it) not even close to what I know. They charge extra to make something a "chimichanga" wasn't even deep fried. Wtf. DO NOT ORDER THE GUACAMOLE!!! I feel as if a siberian Russian person who never had mexican decided to open a Mexican joint. I've had better mexican at a tea party rally.

Yum! This place offers authentic Mexican food. An offshoot of their parent's very popular restaurant, this restaurant (run by the children) has tasty food. In addition, the outdoor dining on the back deck treats you to a nice view of South Haven's boat harbor. Their Golden Margarita is wonderful. The taco salad, the chicken burrito, the shrimp tacos, and the bowl are particular favorites!

We settled in our room across the street & headed right over to this joint. We were seated outside rather quickly (Saturday night). I noticed right away all of the waitresses were hustling. They didn't slack one bit. They, along with our sweet server Lily & the starter chips & salsa are the only reason I gave this place 2 stars. The green sauce, Pico de gallo & spicy veggies were absolutely delicious. It got us so excited because if that was awesome the food should be even better. I guess not. I ordered the combination platter & my husband ordered the garlic shrimp. We waited a whopping 30 minutes for our food to come. Again, we were expecting greatness here. They bring out my food & my husbands doesn't come out till 10 min later. Food is supposed to be served to everyone at the same time! The shrimp was bland. Needed salt & more flavor. The "Mexican rice" was disgusting. Mushy yet crunchy at the same time? Wth? My husband was starving, so he ate it, but ew! That is NOT Mexican rice! My combination platter was even worse. Again, the nasty rice. The meat in the taco & sope... Blah... Both bland. The enchilada was just ok. The sauce could have used a little more heat. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either. The steak... Forget it. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare and I got well well done steak. Extremely disappointed in this place. We could have spent less on better food. I was excited for dessert when I got there but passed thanks to the long wait and disgusting food. Next time I'm in South Haven believe me, I won't be stopping here unless I'm just having the starter chips & salsa! Such a great location but such crappy food. Sad sad sad.

Been here twice now and can say our belly's have walked away satisfied both times. Sitting out on the back patio is really nice! Service could be better, not that it was horrible, but the food is good enough to overcome that. Their fresh salsa and spicy pickled carrots are a nice way to start. Got some cheese dip too. Our burrito was good and our kids cleaned their plates. We'll be back!!

Nice service and outdoor eating area, however the foods was pretty bland and not like the menu described. Quesadillas had not a lot of cheese and the "red sauce" on the burrito was not fantastic either. Only if we were really desperate for Mexican would we be back.

Food was mediocre, chips were good but slightly cold like they had been sitting out all day. Margaritas were very good. Worst part was our service, server by the name of Guadelupe I believe was just terrible. Initially when we asked if we could have separate checks she just stared at us and made an uncomfortable sound which was awkward and told us that apparently this was not okay. We noticed other tables waiting a long time for service, and she was spilling water all over the place. Hopefully she is just new because she was one of the worst servers I have ever seen.

The food was typical of what I may expect from small town Michigan (I live in the West, so it's hard to compare to that). Flavorless guacamole to begin. Super slow service. Meals delivered at different times. The worst...Tiny dishes of salsa's delivered and told "the first one is on the house" Should have taken a photo of how tiny these bowls were. I'm pretty certain they use a specified measuring cup when giving out the rice and beans that come with the dinners. I would say maybe a 1/4 c measure. Very tiny sides with the meals. The pricing was affordable, however, I'd rather be charged a bit more for my meal and get my chips and salsa's included along with larger side portions. I give this two stars because the food was tolerable.

After a two year hiatus, I have returned. Sunday night 6pm dinner. Service got off to (yet another) bad start with a ten minute wait after sitting down before we got water and chips. Scanned the menu; prices have increased. Music was too loud and the bar blender was outrageously noisy; the margaritas were getting a workout!! Once the waitress took our order, the food was delivered promptly. A very good torta sandwich; dry, bland Mexican rice; very salty refried beans. Timely soda refills. Service was better than the past. I will return in year 2016 for my next update.

Best Mexican drinks in town! The margaritas, mojitos and caipirinhas are fabulous. Always fresh ingredients and cold beer on tap. The gold margarita is delicious. The salsa, guac, pico de gallo, and green tomato/avocado salsa is amazing with their homeade chips. I'm so delighted they opened up outdoor seating in the back of the restaurant, the view of the harbor and the Black River is great. Try a burrito, they're huge! The owners Edgar and Constance are always at the restaurant helping out and going table to table with smiles on their faces. They bring such positive energy to the place and make coming back a lot of fun. You may have to wait to get in during season but it's worth the wait.

Love this place. The chips n salsa are killer. I can never pass up the margaritas! Really good! You can even get a pitcher of your favorite margarita! If you can walk here lol We go here everytime were in South Haven. Its not ur authentic mexican place but still good. This place is usually packed so there may be a wait at times, and service isn't bad but if there packed it gets kinda slow. But that never stops me from comin back.

Awful experience! The service was horrific and the "manager" Edgar was horrific! The service was so bad that my girlfriend and I decided that we could not and should not order food. So, we had one cocktail each and decided to leave. Our bill was $15.50 and we left $20. At that point we thought that our horrible experience was over when Edgar came to our table and explained that he put our chips and salsa on the wrong tab and it should have been added to our tab. So, he brought us a bill for $4.19 for the chips and salsa. While on Yelp reading reviews of Su Casa we now know that chips and salsa are complimentary. Going back tomorrow to get our money back and complain to whomever will listen about our awful experience and Edgar "The Thief".

Went here for dinner and sat on their back patio area. The service was a lil hit and miss. Our waitress sometimes left our table for too long and they were not big on offering water refills, which when serving spicy food is important. I got the enchiladas with pork - I liked the flavorful pork but would probably order something else next time. My husband got a pork burrito which he said was very good. I love their spicy pickled veggies and the creamy green salsa, but their chips are too greasy. P.S. Please update the waitresses uniforms the pinks shirts look old, thin, and stained on most of the waitresses!

The food was great. I had the Carne Asada; the meat was a little chewy, but the dish was very flavorful. Tip: the chunky tomato salsa they bring out before your meal doesn't look spicy, but it is the spiciest one (the other two salsas are more mild). On the down side, they told us the wait was 30 mins, and it ended up being more like 45 (on a Monday night in the summer). We also ended up at a corner table that was too crowded for the five of us, so we felt like our neighbors were on top of us.

So disapointed. Just tried to call for take-out, but was told, very rudely ( you have to come here. I can't take an order.) My husband and I have been loyal customers for years. We ate at the original Su Casa at least once a week and ate at this one almost as often. I have always used SuCasa as my go to take out place, but not any more. I doubt I will go there to eat again based on how rude the girl was on the phone. So sad with so few good places to eat in town... another one bites the dust.

Definitely one of the better restaurants in South Haven and worth a visit if you're in town for a week, or even a weekend. This location in South Haven is more polished than their long standing one in Fennville but the authentic deliciousness conveys. Burritos as big as your head if you're hungry, but lighter dishes satisfy as well. Something for everyone. By far the worst restaurant meal we've ever had. The service was abysmal. Our server acted extremely odd, and had to come back to our table three or four times to re-confirm everything we had ordered. In spite of this, everything came out completely wrong, and it's not as though we made any special requests -- we were just ordering straight off the menu. When the food did finally come out, it was flavorless. We asked to speak to a manager and were told that there wasn't one on duty, which might explain a lot. We'll never come back.

The food was so good! The service was not good at all. The waitress had a problem understanding our drink orders. The food took about an hour to arrive after we ordered and the waitress was not around for chip or drink refills. The chips were the best I've had at a mexican restaurant, but only one serving comes free. They did get is a table faster than expected.

Not sure why this place gets such high ratings. It's OK but given the 4 star average we expected a much better experience. Two of my three tacos were good (seak and pork) but the chicken one was just awful. The refried beans were watery and had lousy flavor. My wife's vegetarian sopas were truly awful. No flavor to speak of and really watery. Service was OK but the entrees took a while to show up. At $20 per person they need to step up their game. I would rather spend $10 at a taco stand.

This is the first review I've ever posted but I felt the need after our dining experience tonight. The good was subpar to say the least but that wasn't the most concerning. The service was awful. 1) waitress took our drinks to the wrong table 2) asking for a refill of water felt like we were asking for our waitresses first born child, she couldn't have been more offended and 3) she couldn't have rushed us out any faster. Too bad too for her sake because although again subpar, we would have ordered another drink. If you're in the mood to be rushed and treated like garbage, while eating moderately tasting food, this is the place for you!!

Although we've only met once... I love you Su Casa! Enjoyed our last dinner on our family vacation at this little gem. I was afraid there would be a long wait, with 2 little ones in tow... but although every table was packed, we were seated within 15 minutes of putting our names in, even though we were quoted a 25 minute wait. Next up, drinks! Decent Margaritas with a kick! Spicy Pineapple? yes, please! So delicious! I was so pleased when the waitress brought our daughters food first to keep her occupied. It was quite noisy in the restaurant, so if you are looking for a quiet spot, this wont be for you. Like I mentioned though, we had both kidlets with us, so it was the perfect atmosphere. I ordered the guac as a starter, and hubby got the Queso.... oh the queso.... I think he would have licked the bowl clean if I would have let him. The guac was good, I prefer mine a little spicier, but it had a good, clean flavor and my little guy enjoyed it too :) Fish tacos are awesome. Fish is fresh, NOT FRIED!!! and the pico de gallo/salsa is the best I can remember having outside of Mexico. I forget what hubby ordered (I was on my 2nd margarita) but it was gone by the end of the meal. Compared to many other dining options I've tried in South Haven, this was by far my favorite. I can't wait to return again and indulge again ....

I think this is one of the best restaurants in South Haven. Good value, good food and good service for the bar seating only since that's the only place I've ever been. A trick to avoid the long line and wait times is to get a seat at the bar when one opens up. No reservations. The outdoor patio is new this year and very nice but they need umbrellas to keep the sun off of you! You will not go away hungry.

You have high expectations by the look and the feel of Su Casa from the entrance, and the exterior deck. But once you wait 30+ minutes to be seated it would be ideal to get a drink and chips with salsa. You will get that eventually, but it takes a while. Something that also takes you by surprise is if you want a second round of chips and salsa you will be charged for them. This might not be a big deal, but when it takes your waiter over an hour to bring you your entree you might want to load up the tables with chips and salsa for free. The food is decent, but nothing special. One quick tip, they do have good guac and pico de gallo, and if you are in town on a Wednesday or Saturday in the summer just skip the restaurant and head to the farmer's market. They sell those items there and you don't have to wait. Again, decent food, but the wait and the wait staff are unbearable.

I never expected to have one of the best Mexican meals of my life in South Haven, MI. But I only needed to particular bites to decide this was the case. The bite of my Tacos el Pastor and a bite of my wife's enchiladas with molé did the trick. Both had delicious, rich sauces that were complex and well seasoned. I liked the family feel of the restaurant. The people were very friendly and accommodating. I'd highly recommend this place for anyone that loves refined Mexican flavors.

Went there on vacation, expecting the typical slow, laid back South Haven service. Not expecting much, I was disappointed. The food was not authentic whatsoever. Staff told us to wait 15 mins, after 1 hour and a half we got a table. We wanted to sit on the deck to watch the sunset, we arrived at 5:30 and by the time we were seated it was dark and chilly. The bathrooms were both out of order which was more then inconvenient. Not the worst experience ever, but not worth the wait.

I guess Chicago Mexican restaurants have spoiled me. There are better restaurants at better values with better service just down the street here in South Haven. We're gone.

Eh, after reading the reviews on yelp, we were excited to try it out. The food was good. The chips and other side dishes served to the table were a very nice touch as well. What killed this experience was 2 fold: First, the service just plain sucked. I had no idea who was helping us. The young lady who introduced herself as our server wasn't seen until the bill was presented. Some other guy took our order, some other lady brought our food, and some other lady forgot to bring our drinks and guac appetizer. We asked them twice about our drinks and they finally came 1/2 way through the main course. Secondly, the table they stuck us at was terrible. It was in the back under a big mirror behind the bar. It must have been near the kitchen because it was hotter than hell in there. AND the flies! Yes, the flies were all over the mirror and kept flying into our food! Gross. Asked for another table and told "all the tables are full" Finally, check came and nothing was comped. Somehow, although they forgot to bring our drinks in a timely fashion, they didn't forget to charge us! Would have been a nice gesture considering more than one person there really messed up with us. Oh, and I totally get the satellite Mexican TV tuned to soccer - it's a Mexican joint, and I too like soccer. However, we are in South Haven, MI on a college football saturday night! Would it be too much to ask to put some college football on one of the TVs ???? Lucky there isn't a 1.5 star rating.

Great place with great service. The back deck is dog friendly and has views of river and lake inlet. The food is good and unpretentious. Margaritas hit the spot. The marinated veggies with the green salsa is a great start.

MY NEW favorite place in south haven 1. place is packed always so go EARLY 2.food was very tasty, and fresh i had the tamales (very good) which its really hard to find a good tamales. The burritos will be my next conquest the enchiladas were also very delicious. ONLY GRIPE...SERVICE WAS SLOW...IT WAS PACKED..BUT THEY WERE OVERWHELMED..NEED MORE SERVICE STAFF.

Maybe my expectations were just higher than they should have been due to the nicer look and feel of the restaurant, but my experience here was a letdown. First of all, our group was seated on the patio outside, and I normally love eating outdoors in the summer, but there were gnats EVERYWHERE. We hadn't been seated for more than 30 seconds when we were brushing them off our arms and legs, pointing them out in each other's hair, and squashing them on the table with our water glasses. Eating the chips and salsa was a struggle because they were swarming our plates. If you're going to offer outdoor seating, you need to ensure that bugs are not going to be an issue. We asked to be moved inside but were told there were no open tables. (We had a reservation so we got in right away, but the place was packed when we got there at 8 on a Saturday night.) The waitstaff did bring out some candles, and one server even ran out to get some bug spray, which we sprayed in the air around the table since we didn't want to smell like it all night. These things did help, but to have the issue in the first place was very annoying. The waitstaff was friendly, but slow. We had to flag down someone who I don't think was our server (I'm actually not even sure; I think we saw three different servers) to take our food order. The food was nothing special - pretty run-of-the-mill Americanized Mexican food. I definitely expected better based on the ambiance of the restaurant. It was just not an impressive experience.

Best burrito in So Haven, hands down. Good service, take out available. This has become one of my favorite places...during the off season. As a townie, I avoid the tourist season and enjoy the slower times when there's elbow room downtown. Parking can be a challenge during tourist season. Prices are reasonable based on the quantity and quality.

Staying at a B&B we decided to give this place a go. It was just ok. The service was alright, the restaurant was busy. I dont think the choices in the area are plentiful, so if you want Mexican or something other than bar food.....you might land yourself here. Alcoholic drinks other than beer or wine stunk. I think competition might be in order and couldnt be bad for this place, it might step up the lack of adequate staffing and maybe even food quality. I may give this place another try, but not before surfing around the area for other places. Maybe lunch, instead of dinner.

First off, I believe that this restaurant needs to hire a professional FOH trainer for servers and bartenders. The dish I ordered, Carne Asada taco dinner, was delicious. The complimentary chips and accompaniments are nice as well. However, the service! Our server was friendly and personable, albeit inattentive and as a result the four of us sat thirsty long after our first round of drinks had been consumed. Only when most of our meals were done could I order the cocktail that I had wanted much earlier on. Perhaps because our server never seemed to be found when needed, everything else seemed to move at almost a snail's pace. Re-fills, new orders, to go boxes, and the check. It was busy in there, not crazy, but they had plenty of staff. During our stay we witnessed a table of two flag a server because they had never been greeted, and another couple walk out with angry words to an unsuspecting server. The guest that paid for our tab was feeling a little impatient at this point of our meal and paid for our tab at the bar, and even that took longer than it should have. The adjective he used to describe the experience was "disorganized" as he stood at the small empty bar for a while without even being acknowledged. However, there were two people behind it the entire time. How is that even possible? Honestly I am leaving this review because this establishment has good food, a cute ambiance, and could turn off so many less people with an improvement upon training of staff. I see the effort and good quality, but not enough structure, training, and awareness.

The customer service on Friday night of Memorial Weekend was disastrous. We waited 30 minutes to be seated. I was ok with that because they were busy. But we waited another 10 mins to place our drink order. And then another 12 mins to get our drinks (nothing fancy, a couple of lemonades, water and coffee). We were seated about 30 mins before we got chips & salsa. And we were charged for an extra basket of chips, even though there were 6 of us. Our food came out about 45 mins after we ordered. That's a very long time for Mexican food. It was tasty and the portions were big. But the waitress never did bring tortillas for my husband's fajitas. And I had to ask twice for my 8 year old's burrito. She kept forgetting it, even though he clearly had no food in front of him. We sat for another 15 mins after we finished eating, waiting for our bill. She never brought it over so I finally asked the bartender to cash us out. And that's when I saw that she charged us for the lemonade refills. Seriously? After I just spent $90+ on dinner and had the worst customer service in years? Never ever again will I go here.

The restaurant was nice. The chips and guacamole was very good. However everything else wasn't very good. The shrimp mojo de ajo wasn't good. It came with 9 shrimp in a tasteless sauce, 3 flour tortillas when I asked for corn, a poor rice dish all for 13 bucks. I asked for cilantro and onions just to give some taste to it. Everyone else at the table didn't like their entrees either.

Really disappointed to give this review as my previous visits here had been pretty good. I ordered a torta w chorizo and my date ordered a burrito w steak. When they brought the food they had mixed up the meats, giving her the choriza in her burrito and me a steak torta. What was worse was they had run out of the chihuahua cheese for the burrito and had slapped a couple of slices of kraft american singles on in place. When I asked the waiter WTH? he said they ran out of the chihuahua and the cook 'improvised'. Not sure I will give them another chance given the other better options in town, notably Clementines and The Thirsty Perch.

THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD!! My family and I have been fans of Su Casa since forever. We used to always visit the one in Fennville that was located in the back of a little Mexican grocery store. The authentic feel and the great food kept us coming back. However, they finally opened a Su Casa in downtown South Haven which is just way closer and it's super cute, so this is where we go now. You'll never be disappointed in the food. We've had pretty much everything on the menu and it's all great!! The servers are friendly and the restaurant is just so cute. The drinks are great and authentic as well. I can't rave enough about this place.. if you're around the area you have to stop in for a bite to eat and a margarita..

The food was pretty decent, drinks left a little something to be desired(as in, alcohol). I had avocado tostadas, which were pretty good. The salsas were excellent! Weird quirk while we were there though, when we were looking at the menu, we asked if we could get our chips & salsa since we were starving & had never been there before so we wanted some time to peruse the menu. The waitress proceeds to tell us that the owner doesn't want(the plastic coated) menus to get dirty, so they will only bring the chips & salsa once we have ordered. Also, you are only allowed one serving of chips & salsa per table, unless you want to pay for more. I've never been to a mexican restaurant where that was the case. I get it that you don't want people sitting around just eating chips & salsa & not ordering food, but still a bit odd. Next time I'm in South Haven I'll definitely give them another try.

I ordered the steak burrito. I took two bites. It was far too salty to eat... and I've been known to put salt on pizza. After a little bit too long, the waiter returned to ask how things were, and I was honest. I couldn't eat it. The waiter said they were aware of the problem... he had heard the complaint numerous times, but they don't know what the problem is. So they know there's a problem with it, but they still serve it? What other problems are they aware of? The waiter said that he would take it off the bill, and I told him I wasn't looking for anything free. I should have kept my mouth shut cause "the manager" only took half of it off. So I paid $5 for two bites of burrito and some very dry rice. On the plus side, the chips and salsas are good, and (as Klemthie D. put it) no one in my party of 4 died... but the chicken burrito did not get a rave review... nor did the enchiladas... nor did the sopes... No leftovers were taken, if that tells you anything.

I don't know if we hit this place at the wrong time or what but the food was not good. Ordered beef tacos and my wife had chicken fajitas. We waited 30min for food to arrive. Took 2 bites of the beef tacos and stopped. They were cold and didn't taste right. Chicken fajitas were made with very low quality chicken and were also cold. We left hungry and down $40.

This place is very cute and totally delightful. Excellent tequila selection and thorough menu without being overwhelming. The service was nice but kind of on the slow side. The sopas with beef were a little bread-y but other wise very tasty and the enchiladas with chicken were very good. The chips came out warm and the salsa verde was really good (they charge a dollar for more salsa). The golden margarita was the best I've had in Michigan, no joke. Follow up...next day this meal was felt a second time, in a less than pleasant way. My boyfriend had some negative affects of the gastrointestinal persuasion. I was fine so I don't know if it was something specific with the chicken enchiladas or his Jewish intestines but I thought it was worth mentioning, however I will totally go back here.

Met up with some friends here on an Off-Season Saturday (Nov 2012). The restaurant is very spacious, despite appearances from the street. The wait staff was very friendly and did a fantastic job of taking care of us. With a total of 10 children and 3 adults, that's saying a lot! The food was authentically delicious! They have their own specialty of pickled carrots that were very tasty... We bought a quart to bring home. The prices were very much in line with several other authentic Mexican restaurants that we like to frequent when we dine out. My children are half Mexican, and they know their food! No one went away hungry! Portions were generous, tasty, and filing. If we were to be back in South Haven, we would definitely eat here again. The only thing that was "challenging" was finding the restaurant initially. The sign is small and the "store front" is tucked in with several others. Parking was somewhat easy to find on the weekend that we were here. South Haven has several free public parking lots that are close to downtown.

The guacamole was great too. We got the Enchiladas Suiza with Pork, which was very flavorful and tender. Would definitely go back and try other menu items!

Su Casa is the epitome of why I always advocate small town eateries. This is a locally owned and operated restaurant. It's always pleasant to see such great food in remote locations. Su Casa offers a wide variety of authentic Mexican food. Produce is fresh, meat is well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The crowds are hard to predict in this area so don't be surprised if staff is sparse during a rush. That being said, if you're in a rush just let them know, they're usually more than willing to accommodate you. The Mojito is the signature drink here. The limes are cut fresh, the mint is grown in a small garden at the Hotel Nichols, across the street, and they add a perfect blend of fine granulated brown sugar for the best Mojito I've ever had. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly. I would recommend it to anyone coming through South Haven.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I love the fresh guac and the chips. They have a good variety of Mexican food and also have a good variety of drinks. The service is very friendly and the owner is very nice. It does get busy in the summer though, so go early if you want good seats for dinner.

I spent three days in South Haven and ate at Su Casa each day (sometimes more than once a day.) The carne asada tacos are my favorite but everything I tried (chicken tacos, guacamole and chips, burritos) had a great flavor. I even loved the flour tortillas. The mojito is THE best I've ever had. Can't say enough about it. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful and the owners are always there. They seem to be a bit short staffed so sometimes service is a little behind.

I was here last weekend with my friend who was getting married that day on the tall ship. As one of the bridesmaids, I treated her to her "last lunch" as a single lady at Su Casa. Since we were on a tight schedule, I alerted the waitress and she was more than quick to take care of our needs. The menu had a great selection of meals. It was very hard to narrow it down to one!! The food was fantastic and there was a lot of it!! More than enough to share with someone else. My friend got the burritos and I got the flautas. The chips were definitely homemade. We weren't able to finish our meals and unfortunately due to staying at a hotel, we weren't able to take leftovers iwth us. The only drawback is that the prices are a little steep for lunch.

This restaurant was a big surprise in South Haven. The enchiladas, tacos, chips & salsa, and sangria were all excellent. The atmosphere is nice, and they had a kids' menu for the little ones. They also had a full bar and an extensive margarita menu. I'd highly recommend stopping in for lunch or dinner.

We decided to check this spot out after seeing some positive reviews on yelp. We went in with expectations consistent with what you'd have for Mexican food in South Haven, MI. Unfortunately, Su Casa could not meet these low expectations. It took about 10 minutes before someone even came over to take our drink order. My drink came out fairly quickly but my girlfriend's drink came out 15 minutes later. I was half finished by the time she even received her drink. We decided to the split the combo plate which offered a fair sampling of several items on the menu. All the items we had were pretty bland and disappointing. The worst part of the experience was waiting for the check. After we had finished, no one came over to give us the check. We were left sitting there for a long enough to have even begun "dine and dash" discussions. Fortunately for Su Casa, we aren't that type of people. We finally received our check after wasting more of our day in this place than we ever cared to. South Haven is a small town, but trust me, I'm sure you can do better if you're in the area.

Ducked into Su Casa last Saturday night. It's getting chillier out so the streets were almost deserted but this restaurant was full of people. The service was prompt and friendly, no complains there. I ordered a horchata which was sweet and tasty. Loved the chips and salsa served before the meal. I've never had pickled carrots before at a Mexican place, it was a nice touch. We ordered the combination platter. The taco was fine, not bad but nothing special. Same with the round steak (then again I don't understand the point of a flat steak, it's just so chewy). We loved the pork sopes, next time I would just get that as an entree. The corn bowl and the meat was just so delectable, mmm. The enchilada was tasty too! I'm not a big fan of rice and beans but it came on the platter and was actually pretty good. We didn't get any alcoholic beverages here but they looked good and the prices were very reasonable. Next time we will definitely be back for some drinks. Overall we had quite a nice experience at Su Casa.

The food and service were both marginal. We had nachos, black bean soup and tacos everything was o.k. I would put the cocktails in the same category. Su Casa is on par with most of the restaurants we've experienced in South Haven so if you're in the mood for Mexican food - it's the only choice in town.

So impressed by the mole sauce. Don't expect it to be sweet, but it has amazing flavor. Portions are generous, including chips and salsa. I had to knock off a star for service. The host seemed very flustered - maybe he was new? He almost made some groups negotiate with each other for open tables instead of just sticking to first-come, first-serve. I get that it could seem weird to seat five people at a table for six when a party of six is after them, but no one is going to argue with you. It was a weird way to start the night, but the meal improved after that!

This place is worth a swing through for the chips and greens salsa alone. Delicious and addicting. The drink menu is everything you would want for a fantastic tropical vacation and the flavors do not disappoint! Even the virgin cocktails are delectable! We all ordered tacos and much to our surprise, the carne asada and shrimp tacos were the best. I would have liked them served with limes to enhance the flavor of the meat and fresh cilantro, but I didn't think of it until I was almost done with my meal. The deck offers a great view of the marina with a beautiful New England feel and almost makes you forget you're in Michigan. We will definitely be back.

We asked a local business person where would be the best place to eat and they suggested Su Casa. There was a wait so we put out name in. Our name was called before someone else who was waiting there so we had to address that. After waiting outside for 10 minutes we had to wait another 10 minutes to be served. Ordered drinks and it took another 10 minutes to get the drinks. We ordered our food then a few minutes later (after we had our drinks) they brought us chips and salsa. It seemed like it took forever to get our food, but then again they were really busy. But the food was just mediocre. I didn't think anything was that great. Maybe I picked the wrong thing to order or maybe this is not my thing.

My wife and I were staying in South Haven for several days and we got a recommendation to try this place. We were pleasantly surprised. Who would think you could find this type of Mexican food in such a small town? First off, our service was wonderful. We were also greeted by the owner. They let us know how much our business was appreciated. The food was authentic Mexican. It was fresh, hot, and tasty. I don't think you could expect much more from a place like this. It's located in downtown South Haven, next to a small movie theater. I'd definitely recommend trying this place. One more thing, my wife had a fresh rasberry mojito and it was out of this world !!!

Family of 5, plus grandma, came in for lunch on a Thursday at around 1. Place wasn't crowded, but food took 35 minutes to come out... Carne Asada burrito was OK, as were kids meals. They had just received their weekly food service delivery, and all the food, including food that should be refrigerated , was just sitting out on the floor next to the bathrooms. I would think that they would've gotten it put away ASAP.

This is not my style of Mexican food. I felt like the sauces were off. The cocktail sauce for the shrimp tasted like V8 mixed with sweet and sour sauce. The guacamole was average which is hard to do because avocados are amazing. How can it be anything but awesome?! I had the burrito de aguacate mojado which was decent. Again the sauce was the hard to understand. They didn't mess up the avocados in this. The service was pleasant and prompt. If you come here get the deserts. They are good but I have a sweet tooth.

So far this is best restaurant we've been to in South Haven. Good thing we ordered take-out because the place was packed for dinner. Overall, the dishes were pretty good, but the spices on the dishes were a hit and miss for us. I ordered the filet tilapia. The portion was great since it came with two pieces, which meant that they used a whole fish. My only issue was that it was loaded with pepper, which made it too spicy. i had to scrape them off since I was feeding my kids as well. I also ordered Barbacoa. I actually liked this dish, but it was a little bland. The white onion was over powering the whole dish. A little more salt would it made it perfect. Lastly, I got the ceviche fish tostada for my wife. My wife thought it was good, but she wished they would have put more fish in there. The tomatoes to fish ratio was too much.

Family, boyfriend, and I came here while staying in South Haven for a week. We went on the earlier side of a Friday night so there was only about a 10 or 15 minute wait. They have a patio, but my sister has a seven month old baby, and it was pretty hot so we decided to eat inside. The ambience is kind of half-assed, with colorful walls and a couple Cinco de Mayo-type decorations. Oh well. Our waitress was ultra friendly and greeted us to take a drink order almost right away. My parents, boyfriend, and I shared a pitcher of their premium margaritas which were good but not too strong. We shared guac and chorizo with the chips and salsa that are complimentary. For my meal, I got a quesadilla with cheese and avocado and rice and beans on the side. Pretty good, especially for a Mexican place in Michigan! Overall, we all had a good meal. The place was not too loud and was perfect for our group of six plus a baby.

In my opinion, this is one of only two Mexican Resturants in south west Michigan that is worth going to. The food here is consistently good and service is always good as well. And the place is clean. If you like the craft beers Michigan has to offer you might be disappointed, they only have Mexican beer on tap. The good food more than makes up for it. They have inside and outside seating.

My wife and I have been to Su Casa several times while visiting South Haven. The food is very fresh and very good. I have not been disappointed with any of the menu choices thus far. The owner is very involved, attentive, and appreciative. I can tell you that some of the staff lacks experience and customer service skills but there is a standout. Ivan who often tends bar is top notch. He is very personable and is definitely a mix-master when it comes to drinks. On our first ever visit to Su Casa he stepped in to "save" our struggling bar tender/server and completely changed our dining experience that night for the better. He also remembered the names of our entire party six weeks after our previous visit. Keep this guy around, he is a great front line and makes one hell of a Michelada!

What a great addition to the South Haven restaurant lineup. I loved the enchiladas poblanos the best out of everything we had there, but really we were just so pleased with the place that we can't wait to head back down toward the beach. One small critique, they need to work at getting some local brews from Holland or Benton Harbor on tap to expand the list of typical Mexican lagers that seem to be almost a cliche at all Mexican restaurants...

Took forever to be seated and then it took so long for the table to be cleaned. Plus we had to wait outside (it's was sprinkling off and on) there was no room inside to wait. Not cool. The food was good. The guacamole was lacking in flavor. I had the enchiladas verdes. They were good and the rice was just the way I like, that is very rare. But the beans, well, I'm not sure how you make bland beans, but I guess it's possible. Overall, it was an ok experience.

I am starting to like the South Haven Su Casa better than the Fennville one, that one is too big and gets real busy. I have been a fan since finding the Fennville restaurant /store 25 years ago after moving from San Jose CA. Sure the service can be spotty and the food will vary with whats available, but I am always greeted warmly and served pretty fast. Its not a chain restaurant. Every meal I've had has been good. My daughter has been raised on it. Both Su Casas get noisy, which is hard for us old and crusty types, so I may try sitting in the back.

Two days later came back for lunch...wife and kids had the same thing, I had the Ceviche dish, which was fantastic. Pretty solid Amerxican food, especially for a beach town in Michigan. This is really a 3.5, but I'll round up because I was on vacation and had a good time. Apparently the complimentary chips and salsa is bottomless, or includes at least one free refill. (I would say "Don't fill up on chips," but then again, if you fill up on chips, that leaves more leftovers to take home and better economizes your meal. Shhh.) Both salsas--a pico de gallo and a smooth salsa de avocado--were really good, as well as the chips. The pickled carrots and jalapenos were a nice touch. We opted to add a small order of guacamole and it was a-okay. So after all that, I really could have counted it as a meal and stopped right there. But nope, I still had black bean soup coming. Thumbs up to the soup, which is pretty plain but tasty. I took most of that home. For an entree, I got the shrimp fajitas. It was an actual cooked dish, not a half-assed, barely grilled pile of shrimp and vegetables served on a sizzling metal plate to distract the diner from the fact that the kitchen has spent less than thirty seconds preparing his food. You know, like most Mexican places. So that was nice. And it tasted good, and I took home half the peppers and onions and most of the rice and beans. So all in all, lunch was really tasty and a good bargain.
